The story begins with engineer Jack Leary responding to a distress signal from the neighbouring Mars mining facility, Fort Solis, located deep within the desolate desert of the red planet.

Faced with imminent sandstorm warnings, Jack ventures inside to establish contact with the crew only to find himself alone and the base abandoned.

As the night grows longer, events escalate and the mystery of what happened to the crew begins to reveal itself.

The storm arrives, limiting Jack's escape as he looks to survive until morning.
